The most beautiful (flower) carpet I have seen

One of my dearests friends sent me these great pictures of the most amazing carpet you could think of. It is made of Begonia flowers! The bloom of 700 000 begonias! Thank you for sending, my dear friend!

They made me happy and I would really love to share this beauty with you.

This carpet is a regular art, marketing and tourism event. Every two years, in the middle of August, it covers Brussels’ main square, the Grand Place to last only 3 days. It attracts thousands of tourists who visit Brussels to admire the begonias’ beauty.

A 17th century French carpet pattern was created by volunteers for a day (Aug 15th) this year.

In 1971 the major of Brussels started the tradition with copies of begonias carpets made by begonia growers in the country, which were presented in the capital. Begonia plants are a very important Belgian export product.

Have you noticed, people pay attention to some days?

07.07.2007 and 08.08.2008 were declared auspicious dates and numerous weddings and other special events took place.

What about 20.07.2007 and 20.08.2008?

I do not really remember the first date, but yesterday… I sent my Doll Quilt Swap Four quilt to my partner.

Lots of strange and unexpected things happened, including packaging, card and pack content issues.

I hope it will reach my partner safely and soon! I sent with registered mail. But will get really sure when I know it has arrived.

Having sent the quilt I made, I am entitle to wait for the one made for me, right?

So I keep dreaming of several (at a time) fantastic quilts I see in the pool . Than I regret to read someone else received one of them (so it will definitely not come to me) … and new gorgeous quilts, ready for sending appear in the pool. Fun, fun! … Looking at the lovely quilts made by talented people and the expectation of receiving one.

Sometimes the author clearly states the marvel she made is going to “down under” or is due “Sept. 1st”.

Well, this means it is not for me … But sometimes I just refuse to read this part! LOL And although my quilt should have been mailed by now /unless it is made by someone as busy and late as me/ I still want every new quilt I see in poll… Fun!

I think the only way to be absolutely happy, after seeing all the beauties, hmm…. is to make at least 5 quilts like the ones you love (do not misunderstand me, my favorites are much, much more). Am I crazy? Or it is a swap member’s normal thinking?

On the numerology side I enjoyed a very productive week with a special project breakthrough on a special date. And today is a good day too (even better according to numerology).

PS: I did not send confeti or paper bits - I modified the image to keep a little surprise. And keep on waiting and dreaming for mine surprise…

Вчера имах шанса да видя тези снимки и искам да ги споделя с вас.

Това е килим с дължина 300 метра, създаден от цветовете на хиляди бегонии, подредени върху калдъръма на площад в Брюксел.
Благодаря на моята скъпа приятелка, която ми ги изпрати!

Вярвам, че те ще ви впечатлят колкото впечатлиха и очароваха мен.

Килимът ме очарова с красотата си и идеята да се пресъздаде образеца - килим създаден преди няколко века с цветовете на стотици хиляди бегонии. Впечатли ме с размаха си, размера си и практическото приложение.

Този невероятно красив килим се създава за ден, трае едва няколко, но привлича стотици хиляди туристи в този период и рекламира цветето, което страната изнася в най-голям обем.

За тези няколко дни, килима привлича повече туристи от броя на цветчетата, които го съставят.
И неописуемо красив и въздействаш. Дори на снимка.
Благодаря още веднъж на авторът на снимките, една прекрасна и скромна българка и моя приятелка!

The New Swap!

I am about to finish a swap and a new swap is coming.
I wonder why I waited so long. I should have joined a swap long ago. I love more than 90% of the quilts in the Doll Quilt Swap 3 (and I do love the rest of them). That was the reason that made me join. I am about to send the quilt and I am anxious to see which of the wonderful quilts I saw will arrive.

But the swap emotions continue with Chookyblue’s Secret Santa Christmas Swap SSCS 2008. I am happy I joined. I had to give up another great swap. But one swap at a time is not so bad, is it?

I received my partner’s info today!

Jelly Fish

Today we found a babyl jelly fish like the one on the picture. It was only 10cm long and was quite fast. We caught it in a plastic boat and it went all around it in no time. It was even faster then that when we placed it in the sea water again.

I like this particular kind for the violet rim - vibrant and minimalistic decorative touch to the white jelly fish.

В разгара на лятото

В последно време отделям повече време на размяната, в която участвам и типично летни занимания.

Плажът, малките летни ремонти, дългите вечерни разходки са само част от летните емоции. Днес хванахме една малка голяма медузка (около 10см, но от вид, който става около 50см и има ярък лилав ръб по шапката).

Вчера започна голямото откриване на обекти по случай празника на града тази седмица. Може би по този случай гостува и изложбата със снимки на Александър Иванов.

Лятото превали и вече се насочваме към есента и есенните вълнения и проекти. Междувременно нови автори и продукти се включват в бутика.

Doll Quilt Swap: Final Touches (and Dilemmas)

The quilt is ready. Or it was supposed to be… It hangs on my kitchen wall ready for its next wash and pictures.
I find some minor problems about it every day… and have not made my mind whether I have to mend some parts. Well, I have to decide about these mending dilemmas and consider it ready this week. I have not made any pictures yet, but I will as soon as I place it in my completed projects list.

Doll Quilt Swap: the Quilting Experiment

This is some of the quilting.

I completed 90% of it, then noticed some tension problems, my family decided it is all quilted too much… some quilting removal took place… and quilting again…

This all led to a new look I am not quite sure about.

And my initial idea was to quilt only the leaves… it would be so much easier if have not changed my mind to more complex quilting and experiment

I will show the completed quilt pretty soon and plan to send by the end of next week.

Doll Quilt Swap: the Top

The top was pieced shortly after I posted here that the design was finally chosen.

I had some photo problems however, so I was not able to post it earlier. The photo shows the top almost done. This is the top before trimming the white border and adding an outer cream border.

It will be free motion quilted and I think of binding it in either pink or green, but it way may add a kind of candy look, so I have not decided yet.

It is quite simple, but I do hope my partner will like it.

Куилт /килт/ на ръка - нещо, което не бях правила от години и започнах този месец почти като медитация.

Пачуъркът също е правен отдавна - преди няколко години. Още когато го завършвах, ми се виждаше някак незавършен без ръчен шев, но нямах нито време нито желание да се захвана с куилт на ръка.

Е, времето му дойде. Mакар и по час на седмица.

Засега е готова около една трета.
