knitting a pink summer shawlThe shawl is growing! I love the colour and the look of it is quite acceptable so far.. Thinking of some improvisations in the second part now…

I started with tighter hands, I think as after unraveling it all, the new version is more airy and lacelike looking. Maybe I can block it lightly and still have airy shawl… I knit loosely - 7mm needles knit looks like 8-9mm

It is my birthday today!
It was a fantastic day, almost normal, and quite magic… It started with a dentist visit…. but it was a good one. Then I went to my mother to give her a bouquet of roses and she bought me the most gorgeous orchid I have seen. Well, there are some that are more beautiful I suppose… But it is pale yellow with purple…and it is huge.. with even huger roots…
I baked self saucing pudding and served it with cream… Knitted in the evening. And bought myself some yarn today!
The roses are form last year. The new ones were not documented. LOL . I am trying not to take pictures if everything around… sometimes… I can stand it.

Sunday Stash 6 - DragonsSunday Stash
This is one of my favorite kid fabrics! It is fresh and clean, lots of white, some fresh green and cheerful orange make it the perfect fabric in my opinion!

It is Bulgarian fabric. Pure cotton, medium weight - can be used for cloths or quilts, but will make bedding projects sing too.

I like the cuteness and the simple style of it.

I sorted some fabrics, scraps and notions a couple of days ago. Most of my stuff is in bags on the floor yet and moving slowly to a settled look feels good.

I have lots of ideas for these pieces, but they will probably wait till I place most of my thing in their places in my new studio. I have now idea where it will be for some…

I finished painting my fabric shelves yesterday and they were installed today by husband. Including the curtain rod for the curtain to be, protecting the stash from sun and dust. It is great progress as folding and arranging will follow in a few days!

the fist ones sewsn in the new studioI am moving my studio. It is a complex process, that started with some repairs. I spent lots of time preparing, arranging, painting… Tones of time actually. And today I sew in the new studio for the first time. Half of my fabrics are still in bags, waiting for me to paint their new home. Most of the things have no place yet. Still it was nice to sew again.

Check this giveaway. I will say just one thing: Ravenhill! Yay - it is hosted there :). Same style, same beauty and talent in a lovely textile form.

Hmm, I am in a giveaway mood lately…

I promised to show what I will sent and I do sorry for this. I had to change my plans for the day and was not able to make a decent picture.

So…  I am showing some of my stash. You can get a general idea but it will be a surprise. I am moving my studio now so selecting and documenting fabrics in a single day is a difficult task to do these days.

I will be sending fat quarters.  A selection of several different fabrics so you can get variety. Feel free to comment here or the previous post. Commenting two or three times will still give you one entry to the draw.

I received my quilt last month. It is not my style, it is not something I would normally make myself. It is not one with the fresh and crisp look I like. And I really like it a lot! It is a beauty! Lovely, little, warm and loving doll quilt!

It is a warm, lovingly made and lovingly-worn-looking one, all colours being a little bit subtle, all the prints with the delicate soft look of an antique quilt. The colour combination is not usual - almost bright solids with delicate floras in romantic beige and pink. It matches the biggest quilt I have made so far, one that I keep at home and is yellow and blue - all squares. A perfect match!

The quilting is delicate feather machine stitch. The texture makes me think of a lady / at least my age or even double my age/ who has used it to make her dolls warm in a cold winter evening.

It is all made with lots of love and it shows. It is made by Rachel.
Thank you!

And the quilt I made for this round was received too. It is this one - now I can tell it was a Doll Quilt Swap quilt. You can read Tina’s comments there to see how it was received - swap magic!

mini quilt in ecruIt is a small quilt, I think it is the smallest one I have made so far. It is partly inspired by the Improve part in Project Improve. I had to make something without my machine, I needed something nice, nice to make, easy to assemble and different than what I normally would make.

So it was easy to make it different - white to replace the colours, scissors to be the cutting tool, needle to replace the machine /no options really here/. I have being keeping some yo-yos for a year so I really wanted to use some of them.

I like the clean and simple look of it. It appears to have some serene qualities and I do like serene style in quilts.

I call it a successful experiment and have already planed some new ones to match.

mini quilt in ecruIt is my first quilt made by hand - no single machine stitch here, nor any rotary cutting or any other “modern” help.

I used perle cotton for the quilting and did not quilted too much as I was trying to make it all as as simple as possible. I am still not sure if it would look better with some white quiltin gon the background. I decided not to add it to keep the texture of the ovals.

The quilting is in three different shades of green. Oh, and the label is in orange /of course/.
