Featured in The Stroque! My item featured in The Storque!
Yes, I was happy!
And yes, it does bring views up significantly!

Poor me noticed the view increase but had not checked for featuring until 3 days after the happy post…

The item got sold a day after. This is one of the moment you think etsy staff is right to advice, stocking more than one item in every listing is good. LOL So I relisted.

This is my first time being featured on The Storque.

I /my item!/was on first page for the first time a year ago. No second of either yet. But I do believe there will be some more.

Flower Pincushion in Origami Box by Domoshar StudiosI changed some pictures today.

My most hearted item, that was featured on first page last year and on the Stoque /last week!/  – the flower pincushions in origami boxes – needed some better pictures. So I took some and changed the old ones with the new ones. The Stoque feature   – well it is just a link but it is a happy moment too. I think I will write more about this soon LOL March 18th: Edited to add the “more” here.

Well, I think I will change other pictures too. As everything else, taking pictures in great quantities makes you see some room from improvement in the old ones. Yay, it works this way… though it might be terrifying to realize you make 30 pictures of a single object and like 5. You have 5 good so it pays off.  Sure I will not like them pretty soon LOL

These pincushion make the best little gift for a sewing person, I think. So sweet! I am using at least four – one for needles and one for pins, than multiplied by two to make a studio and a home set. You can make one or buy one. Either way I think you will make the recipient happy!

Every time I make the boxes I feel like having tons of them and filling them with all the little treasures one can think of… It is addictive.

The Nature of Quilting: Sunny potholderHow does it sound? Inspiring?

It is the name of the challenge I participated in. It is one of the Quiltsy Team’s. Quiltsy is the team of quilters on etsy. A lovely place to be in. The challenge asked us to make something showing our perception of Nature of Quilting.

Mine is in the Quiltsy shop. Hopefully it will be bought and the money will help the team grow and promote quilting. This challenge made me think, gave me an opportunity to create and I had to explain what and why I made…

So here is what I wrote and I must confess it is the shortest description of quilting I have written so far. :) :

The Nature of Quilting: Sunny potholderThis is my entry to the wonderful Quiltsy team challenge The Nature of Quilting and it represents my perception of quilting.

It is the sharing, making, using fabric, giving it life, mixing together what your eyes like, or what your hands have. It is individual and very special. It is carefully selected, or impulsively improvised. Its versatile and inspiring.

This one is improvisational. It is made with what I liked in a pile of fabric remnants from other projects and thus it carries the true patchwork and quilt spirit of the old times sustainable use of every little piece of precious fabric, combined with the aesthetics of makers.

The potholder is intentionally imperfect as patchwork and quilting allows you great diversity in both styles and precision. While perfectly matched corners and fabrics may make you stop breathing for a moment, a wonky imperfect quilt may make you feel the handmade nature and maker’s energy even better.

You can buy it in the Quiltsy Team shop here.

More about the challenge in a few das…

Angel lace: StardustI have been an active knitter for a year. And by “active” I mean almost 20 projects knitted  – all small and fast but still 20, so I am officially knitting. LOL! I started with worsted yarn, and though I will never move to cobweb… so impractical and so slow… You know – never say “never”!

I got my first lace weight yarn last week. It is Angel Lace one ply alpaca-cashmere-silk blend and is so thin – 1200m in 100g. I must be crazy… But I am happy!

This yarn is one of the The Natural Dye Studio creations. Lovely yarn!

It is not wisteria colourway. Stardust! How lovely this name is!

Doll quilt swap packageI sent my package yesterday. It was sent to a far away place. I think I never sent to somewhere else actually. Most places are far away anyway in swaps. I think swap mamas might have tried to make distant partners to make the package even more special. Holding something from the other side of the Earth feels special enough even without being a marvelous quilt.

I felt quite intimidated this round. My prather is  a talented prson, whicjh was more than expectad in the swap participants company. However I have alway liked her creations a lot. Anxious to see if it will be liked. HOping it will be!

And anxious to receive the quilt made for me…

Another look and some thoughtsWhen I have the time and my camera around, I love making pictures of the quilt making process. It is a magic, just like every other creative activity. Piece by piece and step by step the quilt appears.

It is difficult for me to say what makes it more special – watching the creative process or the fact the maker /that’s me/ takes part in it… Maybe the camera helps me take the most of both these miracles – by making pictures I am fully in the making, but I take short breaks to see the creation through someone elses eyes. Or something’s eye, while making pictures LOL. I then go back to the making and have a fresh new look at it. It is really refreshing and helps me not to stick to any idea or plan. Very liberating experience – shoots and then new mini start.

Sometimes the light is so brilliant or so subtle, that it changes the way the room and project look like. Like in this picture – the light coming through the patchwork top. It was a dark day before this magnificent warm light appeared at once. Just on time actually!

Another spring project in the snowy days of March. It is all white and gloomy outside but I have some flowers on the new project fabrics.

These are already quilted and trimmed and waiting for their bindings.

Might be bound in a day or two.

Yes, these are the fabrics shown yesterday as part of the Sunday Stash.

Mini pile of fabrics – 3 floral prints and 3 solids.

These are the fabrics for my Monday project. I think I showed at least part of them. However they look so lovely paired this way.

Sewing for spring feels great even before I have started it.

These are Bulgarian, Turkish and Pakistan fabrics. Each has its own texture and I am anxious to sew them up together.

DQS8 Sneak peakI finished this bright stripy square on March 1st, not able to mail it the same day because of some very urgent and lovely things to do and attend. Than I was busy with the national holiday. March the 3rd is the National Holiday of Bulgaria, but we had a celebration that kept me busy on March 2nd… And I was in bed on March 3rd with a virus. Did I wrote DQSs tend to coincident with extremely busy periods?… yes, it is true! And it is not just the end of the mailing period… busy, busy, busy for a month…

Making this one was great pleasure. I machine pieced and quilted this time. Only one totally handmade thing – the labeling.

Hope my partner will like it. It will be in the mail on Monday. When I am back to normal.
