Knitted fingerless mittsIt is my second winter in knitting and it is much more productive than the first.

I made 3 pairs of mitts, 1 pair of gloves, 1 shawl, knitting and almost finished the 3rd. And even bought yarn I will not be able to knit in a two week period…

These mitts are my most complicated knitted creation. and the design is all mine.

Have not decided what to make with the new yarn… Bought with some ideas, now considering new options… It is all some kind of wool. I love natural materials.

I will first finish the shawl I am knitting now – the pink one. And here are the gloves!

Knitted fingerless mitts My first Gloves

New Top!

It is actually an almost ready quilt. But here is the top itself.

I took this picture while preparing it for basting.

It was so beautiful on the studio floor, I had to take some pictures!
I love piecing solids. It is liberating, crisp, simple.

I am always unsure at the beginning of each round. It is not easy to pick up the initial stile or idea. So if you are wondering same loads of questions about my liking…. here is some help:

First of all, I missed a “not” in my sign in info – I do prefer fabric and crafting notions much more than chocolate. Plus I can buy chocolate here but fabrics.. it is a different story…

I have written similar post for every round here. I never read the previous before writing a new, so they might be all the same or totally different. Never mind, here are the crucial things:
Enjoy making it.
Use or come up with an idea you like or wanted to try.
Use a technique you like, or what to try.
Use your colours. Just make sure there are colours in there – it is likely I am not in in love with completely black and white quilt. But who knows…

Other detail. I will hang it and enjoy it, wash it from time to time. So make sure it is washable. Hanging aid is an optional as I will find a way to hang it without any too.

By machine, by hand, with or without embellishments – all your choice.
What really matters most is the fact you made it for me, if enjoyed making it and created something you like, than it is a treasure.

Happy Quilting!

This becomes usual for Mondays. LOL Second Monday with no school.
Temperatures are around -10C these days. If it is not really windy like the day before…… it is nice.. and we played a lot in the snow today. Hopefully same following tomorrow. It was sunny today!

I will delay the Doll quilt swap partners hits as it was obvious today I have to knit something urgent for the most enthusiastic snow player here… to keep the warmth in the snow!

I was excited to get signed in, to receive the partner info, to see what they like… The hardest part is about to begin now…

What to make, how to make it – by hand, by mashine, both; with or without appliques… my colours, partners, colours.. or both… wondering if I will get the right clue on the photostream or blog… trying to be not too specific here so I could keep the partner’s surprise safe…

PS If you are wondering similar questions and readying my blog secretly to get same clues… /you are making a quilt for me/, I will write something especially for you here this weekend.

This is the first Quilt for 2010.

It is a gift for a baby, so it is even more special.
I have no idea if this arrangement has an official name. I am almost sure it has. Since half log cabins have and copyrighted too, this simple one should be at least named, right. LOL.

I noticed similar blocks quilt last year and planned one lap quilt for myself. However I never made a lap quilt for me in 2009. So here is the idea sewn into a baby quilt.

Solids are special to me for a few years now. It all started because I have limited fabric supply here. But really grew when I realized how versatile a solid fabric can be, accompanied with some more.

This particular combo – yellow and pink, was something I was not sure who will be able to like. It should be someone with “special” eye to colour – almost as crazy as mine. LOL. A baby eye! It really hit me when I was choosing which fabrics to use for this baby quilt. I had a nice excuse to go for the combo I really wanted to cut into a quilt.

This is the last patchwork made in 2009.

A custom order for a table runner. Love the colours on it. It is Christmas like, but too much Christams in there. It could a nice Valentine or just a stylish red and white table addition.

I have made a few table runners with similar look – same pattern, different colours. This is the boldest. The contrast between red and and the whites is really strong and the red vivid. But the white/ecru combo softens it and adds style.

The back is burgundy deep red with ecru quilting on it.

More pictures on Flickr. A lot actually. I took 100+ pictures and changed most to “private” not to bother people on Flickr… The first time I do it.

The table runner will be added to my etsy shop as another custom table runner tomorrow.

Christmas one skein shawl Here is the Christmas shawl. Before blocking. But you will get a good idea of how it looks. Yes, it is better after blocking and it would be good to have some after blocking pictures… but I did not take any apart from the folded one here.

The weight is the thing I really love on this one  – it is approx. 50g. And it is warm too.

Knitting it was meditative activity – fast, easy to memorize, soft and great colour.

This is the fisrt really lacy shawl I made. It was soft and shapeless I was not sure it will block well, but it did block just perfect. More pictures on Flickr.

I am planning new projects with this yarn. Have not chosen the colour yet…
