new yarn for a clapotisThis is the shawl that made me knit last year. Well, it was not only because I loved the way it looked, but also the drape and colour, and softness… made me want to knit one.

So I started one a few days ago. It will be a big and heavy one – almost 250-300g, I think. But it will be warm.

I am knitting with two strands. This gives the fabric very interesting sheen and texture.

Here is one of the threads. The other is pure wool.

These are the magic slippers. Why magic? They are beautiful, orange, warm, made of eco wool, easy to knit… lovely!

I knitted them for someone special and for the knitting class at DOMOSHAR.net.
I see more slippers in the future but maybe next autumn… Too many spirng-summer items on my list now.

Knitted fingerless mittsIt is my second winter in knitting and it is much more productive than the first.

I made 3 pairs of mitts, 1 pair of gloves, 1 shawl, knitting and almost finished the 3rd. And even bought yarn I will not be able to knit in a two week period…

These mitts are my most complicated knitted creation. and the design is all mine.

Have not decided what to make with the new yarn… Bought with some ideas, now considering new options… It is all some kind of wool. I love natural materials.

I will first finish the shawl I am knitting now – the pink one. And here are the gloves!

Mitts!

Latest knitting - mitts - my design I am knitting these at the moment.

The 3rd pair of mitts ever. Not officially obsession yet. But who knows… it might soon be…

I sort of made all the design decisions on the way. Love the first one. Now making the second. Hope it is all done today!

Christmas one skein shawl Here is the Christmas shawl. Before blocking. But you will get a good idea of how it looks. Yes, it is better after blocking and it would be good to have some after blocking pictures… but I did not take any apart from the folded one here.

The weight is the thing I really love on this one  – it is approx. 50g. And it is warm too.

Knitting it was meditative activity – fast, easy to memorize, soft and great colour.

This is the fisrt really lacy shawl I made. It was soft and shapeless I was not sure it will block well, but it did block just perfect. More pictures on Flickr.

I am planning new projects with this yarn. Have not chosen the colour yet…

My first shawl - eco wool, really big and heavy knitted shawlKnitting for Christmas and finishing the second Christmas gift, I realized I have not showed my first shawl here. So here are some pictures of the shawl I knitted almost a year – knitted one skein end of winter 2009 and not able to find more yarn till November, than finished it in a few evenings. It is the first thing I ever blocked too!

The two additional skeins are a little darker as eco wool – yes, it is pure wool -  varies a lot in colour and these were quite spaced in time…

Recently I knitted a similar shawl for Mom.  And see more shawls to join them in the future too.  Knitting this one was so rewarding, that I started another similar one to0. Read the rest of this entry »

Christmas ShawlI knitted this a few days before Christmas. Just enough before, to be able to finish, block, pack and give in time.

It was a nice fast and soft knit – simple pattern, elegant look, deep colour! It is so light and soft that I am seriously considering making at least three different ones for myself… Dreaming so far. I have lost of other things to do first LOL

My mom is happy with this one. So am I. The first thing I knitted for her! It was surprise. She likes the colour and the style. So I have no choice but be happy with it.

More pictures to be added soon.

new yarn for an old project - eco woll in blueI started a shawl last winter. It was supposed to be a one skein project. But it was not. And the worse thing was I had only one skein. And none of the shops around seemed to have a single skein…. so I had to store it.. because re-knitting it on bigger needles did not help enough.

Today I received 3 new skeins and I just started knitting it again!

Ordering from a distant shop was my last chance and it worked thanks to a lovely lady.

Back to knitting now! Pure wool in blue feels good!

It is hot summer here. We are not visiting the beach these days – visiting my studio instead. Almost no sewing has taken place though. I made a purse organizer for myself. Almost 3 years after placing the note in my to do journal… Happy I did it.

In the meantime between beach and studio transition I finished the big leaves lace shawl and it only needs some blocking now. It is huge! Not to sure if it is too big, or just perfect… And it is very heavy too – almost 300g.  The pink shawl, that was waiting for less than 10 additional meters of yarn is back on the needles now and I am continuing the bind off. It is slow binding as all the stitches are on a yarn and I need to transfer them on the needle first /which I do in groups of 8-12 stitches, bind them off and transfer the next group…/

My latest project is moving slowly /pictured here/… as I decided to finish all my UFOs using any spare minute. So I washed my machine embroidery potholders today! Another year of waiting here /between attaching the binding and the final binding stitch today/.

I am drawing and sketching doll quilt ideas now, not able to choose one of the 3 ideas I like best so far…
