New on the work tableThe project for this week.

It was started last week. Good plan. Especially now, as I already know, I had to unexpectedly miss a day in the studio today.

Not sure I will be able to finish it by the end of the week. I will try though. It is small, I know. But it is not the only thing planned.

What are you making this week?

New (Hand) PrintsNew little prints, printed by hand in the first days of July.

Unexpected blue, unsual pastel look.. they look somehow washed out to me. Probably you find them pale too.

I have some big plans for these prints. A few plans actually – not a single one and I do not have  enough prints for all of them. I will have to choose one plan to start with, I am  sewing something with these prints and the the previous batch

Or maybe print another batch to make it even more special…

Sunday Stash #23: Flowers
Latest addition.

Actually one of the fabrics in the latest addition pile…
I was not sure about this one – seemd washed out, a little bit acqaurelle, a little bit like vintage. I actually liked it when I bporught it in the studio.

I see a quilt with this one in the leading role. So soft…

Sunday Stash: Kid Print
The latest addition to my stash. It si fresh, naive and bold, still small scale and cheerful.

I was shopping for a project to be made and notice this strange print. Gave it a second look and liked it, so here it is.

I have no idea yet what it will become…

Piles on the work tableThis is the ordinary look of a work table in the beginning of a sewing session. Each piece has its place.

They manage to stay like this for a pretty short period… Especially if the projects uses ribbons and little details… like here… They soon tуrn into the perfect mess – looking like chaos study, but  with  exact place for each piece.

If I try to make it look nicer it transforms to the perfect chaos – piles looking tidy, but me not knowing which piece went where…

Sunday Stash #21: Fireworks in ecru

One of the latest fabrics here. Fresh fireworks, on subtle ecru.

I just had to buy it. It was cut and pieced it in a quilt a few days after I bought it.

Impulsive buying feels good when you use it so soon.

Solids!
Most of my solids. Piled and ready to become bright little patches for the next quilt.

I managed to get some of my favorite aquamarine blue just a few days after I took this picture. It is not included. Still the solids here are over 20 different colours. I was happy to realize it!

Quilted Patchwork Pincushions by Domoshar StudiosThese lovely little pincushions were added to my etsy shop yesterday.

They have a long history.
They started as a patchwork experiment almost 10 years ago. At this time the fabric was old enough for them to qualify for being made with vintage fabric now.

These little patchwork pieces were carefully stored until earlier this week. When I finally sewed into something and they are now pincushions. All finished, all little threads were clipped and they are waiting for their new owner.

I was not sure if adding them to the shop was the right decision or it was better to keep them. With so many pincushion I am using, I decided to add them to the shop.

Another look and some thoughtsWhen I have the time and my camera around, I love making pictures of the quilt making process. It is a magic, just like every other creative activity. Piece by piece and step by step the quilt appears.

It is difficult for me to say what makes it more special – watching the creative process or the fact the maker /that’s me/ takes part in it… Maybe the camera helps me take the most of both these miracles – by making pictures I am fully in the making, but I take short breaks to see the creation through someone elses eyes. Or something’s eye, while making pictures LOL. I then go back to the making and have a fresh new look at it. It is really refreshing and helps me not to stick to any idea or plan. Very liberating experience – shoots and then new mini start.

Sometimes the light is so brilliant or so subtle, that it changes the way the room and project look like. Like in this picture – the light coming through the patchwork top. It was a dark day before this magnificent warm light appeared at once. Just on time actually!
