These are the fabrics for my Monday project. I think I showed at least part of them. However they look so lovely paired this way.

Sewing for spring feels great even before I have started it.

These are Bulgarian, Turkish and Pakistan fabrics. Each has its own texture and I am anxious to sew them up together.

Making this one was great pleasure. I machine pieced and quilted this time. Only one totally handmade thing – the labeling.

Hope my partner will like it. It will be in the mail on Monday. When I am back to normal.

Най-забавната част беше преднамерено /но небрежно/ да се постигне случайно разположение на кръпките.

Когато работиш без предварителен план и без скица, блок по блок /при това всеки без никакви ограничения/ е много забавно да си кръпкосваш. Трудното е обаче така да нагласиш блоковете, че хем да си пасват, хем да са балансирани сами за себе си и най-вече да кога да спреш със всеки блок.

Този пачуърк със сигурност ще има продължение. Само да събера още малко кръпки за да е по-лек избора от колекцията с остатъци.

I am sure not everyone will like it, as I am aware my perception for colour is a little wild. Making this top felt great. It was my first attempt in random piecing for a while, but just a single look at these lovely quilts, made me make one. I used scrap patches, left from other projects. I had a big fat pile of them in one of the secret chest drawers and sort them in different size boxes first.

They were not all rectangles, but I decided to make this a little bit ordered using the shape and cut them to rectangles. The funny thing was, that it looked too orderly to me and the most difficult part was to mix each block and the blocks together to achieve as random look as possible. Working with no plan or sketch is fun, but making it look like you want it to with all blocks random is not exctly piece of cake…

I will definitely make more. My kid wants one. My husband wants one. LOL I want one too. And one will not do for all of us…

So here is the start of my Monday in the Studio posts.

Here is the new project started this Monday. It is bright with some soft colours here and there.  Turned nice and will be lovely when finished, I think.

What did you do this Monday?

No, its not my relative. It is a lady with a very special job similar to Santa Clause’s.

And here are some of the martenitzas we made on Sunday to give today. These are  twisted white and red threads.

It is an old Bulgarian tradition wishing good health to people and cattle, by giving everyone a martenitza on March 1st. It is worn until the person sees a stork or other migrating bird. It is then tied on a flowering tree.

Decoration options are unlimited. The twists on the picture are just the base. Pompoms, tassels and bows are the simplest ones.

Almost felt in love with these when I first saw them many months ago. Happy I did not forget them so I could make some for the February gifts I needed.

Small, cute, useful, beautiful, fast and affordable – the perfect gift!

I even Feng Shui-ed them. Adding colours!

Printed some additional pages and wrote on them wishes on some dates and weeks.

These were really appreciated. Not sure if they will be used a lot, but they are in use anyway so this is a success. LOL

Шит е миналата седмица и от тогава стои на една маса да му се радвам. Много харесвам комбинацията на уж непасващи си платове, цветове и щампи. Затова и този в момента ми е любим.

Все още не е ясно в какво ще се превърне.

Имах една идея, но се намеси един кандидат собственик, та може и да се промени плана.  Във всички случаи съвсем скоро ще правя подобен.
