Project Improv: Learn, Help and Have Fun!
Making quilts with no patterns and no limits is supposed to be fun! I will see now. I joined Project Improv and I am so happy I did. It will be fun, it will be great learning experience and it will help people in need. Lovely!
Most of the quilts I have made were designed by me. I did not follow any pattern for them, but still drew the design and calculated some measures then I cut the pieces in specific size according to the design drawing and some calculations. Even if I draw a sketch of the quilt to be I never decide which colour or print goes where before I start piecing. It is always play on the way /unless I really have to follow a pattern in a way/. So I will go a step ahead by using my ruler just as a cutting guide...
I have no idea what the precise definition of improvisational quilt is. I will try to find some and feel prepared. Is wonkiness essential part of it or its just a beautiful bonus? I will see and keep you posted.
No matter what I find I will make something with no measures and no precise cutting. Otherwise it will feel too close to my ordinary quilt making. I really like to feel it happen, not make it match a plan.
That is what I intend to do for now. I will start playing next week.
PS I just improvised with the project's button as I really do not like so much black here. I hope Jacquie will not mind, I will change it otherwise
