Monday in the Studio: Hearts

Media_httpdomosharcom_mytwd
St. Valentine day is in four weeks. A good time to get started about its preparation. In Bulgaria it is a double holiday - the adopted western St. Valentines day - celebrating love - and the local folklore day of wine and wine pruning. St. Valentine's day is on another day in the Orthodox calendar used by most of the Christians in Bulgaria. So I started these hearts as my first creation for the holiday of all the people in love. Or people who like good wine. They will become small useful thing. I do not love the idea of making something cute for the cuteness itself. It is very important to find a good reason to use it and not just put it somewhere to collect unneeded piles of dust...

Week Number One

Media_httpdomosharcom_fisan
The first week of the year is almost all gone. I was sewing, quilting. embroidering and knitting this week. A very promising new year beginning, I think. Blogging got a little bit neglected due to camera exhaustion and will be back here as frequently as usually next week. In the meantime - by the end of the day- I will put the final stitches on 3 projects started this week. Other 4 got finished during the week. Oh, and the big Valentine sewing and crafting starts tomorrow! Wishing you a lovely new week!

Christmas Stockings

Media_httpdomosharcom_cjgda
Here is the original second batch for 2010 - semi-Christmas, semi-neon. Love the traditional-contemporary mix in them - linen and neons. Batch number one is all gone, so here is the second one. It also comes in appliqued, embroidered, drawn form. However I think this no accents version is my absolute fave so far. Nothing to remove, nothing in excess - so really close to perfection. The appliqued, etc. versions have no decent pictures yet. Coming soon here... Having promised to write about process - this is a fave process too - they look almost the same way inside out... Yay!

Happy December 1st!

Media_httpdomosharcom_ynucc
It is already December! All the Christmas preparations are getting really intensive. I still need to deal with the decoration, the flowers, the table, the cards, some  gifts, etc. The weather is getting really unpleasant these days here - gloomy and cold, but it really calls for a biiig cup of tea and some cookies - juts like Christmas. I am sewing for the holidays and packing orders otherwise.  More reds, white and greens on my table than usual - Christmas! Happy December 1st! PS Last day of the 15% discount sale in my shop with coupon code CYBERMONDAY15.

Monday in the Studio

Media_httpdomosharcom_cctiv
Another Monday, another lovely summer day in mid-November... I am working on a few projects now but going to show you the weekly favorite - a quilt in progress. It is inspired by a summer Flickr quilt love and a little lady. I am not telling the favorite yet - it is one of the most lovely simple quilts there... I will show it with my version when it is ready. The colour choices were not obvious or dreamed. It was squares box utilization and a special style idea mix. Not quite sure it will be a good marriage of a box and a style. LOL This is just the top. I am still looking for the right back and lots of added extras. The magic "in progress" decisions and choices... Have a lovely week!

Sunny Day! Forgoten Quilt! New Shop!

Media_httpdomosharcom_ckfus
Hello again! The 24+ hours rain is over... people say it is not for long...  but still the sunny day feels great! Green grass, golden trees, blue sky with little white clouds, breeze, soft warm light.... and warm weather... a dream! And it started as a dense fog morning... and the next rain is some 300-400km away... I am still working on Christmas preparation and custom orders and just popping here to add some pictures of a spring quilt I forgot to post this spring. It is a big, soft, cheerful one and has the energy of today's sun - bright but soft, energizing but not hot. Stumbled upon it looking for a picture today and feels just like this day.

Another thing I forgot to shout here is... Ta-da! ... the studio has a new little shop, you can visit right now! I am so excited with this project and the little time I had to open on 10.10.2010 - see the auspicious aspect! It explains the mini format of the shop for now... I will blog about this later again - I think it is a big step and the excitement is constant for now LOL I am now working on adding new pictures and new items and fresh feedback on how it looks/feels is always welcome. Always looking for some critiques and side views. A few lovely friends gave me some precious feedback and ideas I am working on now. Thank you, dear!

Striped Duet in Blue

Media_httpdomosharcom_nuaep
Here is the finished product or what these blues were transformed in. It is pretty simple, nothing fancy, no special techniques or effects - just simple piecing and nice colours. I find it stylish and really appealing. Talking about the process, this project was really something interesting. Some unexpected design work added special charm - it was self painted due to a little experiment. I think this added texture. Two quilts in almost the same design - pretty in blue duet. Love the calm, relaxing blues. This project was squeezed to fit around other on going ones. It was ready just in time for delivery and the next project on my schedule. Gives some comfort in a busy period! And look at the wrinkled blues... lovely!

Scrappy Pincushion Swap: Made and Received!

Media_httpdomosharcom_clpfb
I was procrastinating the blog post about the pincushion I am making... and it turns out I am to write of the one I received first. Yay, I did receive my pincushionS! Yay! Two! How generous is this? And how beautiful? Just imagine beauty multiplied by two! A craft paper package graced by Her Majesty's profiles... package coming from The UK looks interesting enough itself... Now imagine a few turquoise little packages in side... and two pincushions plus flat-headed pins... But wait! Mini, tiny, perfect hexies... feeling so spoiled... And did you notice the owls? On the chocolate buttons and the pincushion?  Oh, and they are both reversible! Happy me :) Well, the hexagons are unreal...

OK. Now for what I have made. I sketched a few designs, choose one, started and almost finished the "top" side... and just need to back it and make it all 3D, soft and pin-inviting... I will not actually show it here... feels like stealing part of the attention the package I received deserves... These beauties were made by Isisjem. Thank you!
